Manage Clients from Your home with Virtual Assistance

With the proliferation of the Internet and its allied activities, bolstered by the unprecedented rise in the global economy, many different types of opportunities have mushroomed. Besides the virtual organizations that have literally gobbled up all sorts of activities, a new avenue of opportunity in the form of a virtual assistant has sprung up which involves a temporary professional worker who caters to businesses through the Internet. The distance between the Virtual Assistants (Vas) and the employer is of no consequence as all the work is carried out remotely.

A Virtual Assistant’s work is not merely something that is performed from home but it is something that deserves a special recognition that would distinguish it from other types of work. Its specialty does not only constitute its ability to perform activities for a client from a distance but the nature of the services is administrative in size and range. Moreover, it does not concentrate merely on one specific type of usage but it endeavors to help the client in all its desired range of activities.

If you wish to act as a Virtual Assistant, you will have to finalize with your client whether you would work “on call” or as per some schedule that can be worked out keeping in view your and your client’s needs and personalities. Irrespective of the location of your client, you would be working from home and keeping in touch with your client via e-mail, phone, fax or online instant messaging

The essential qualifications for becoming a virtual assistant are proper training in computer operations and ability to help in diverse needs of the client from highly specialized areas like web page design to the mundane office support activities. A virtual assistant should possess either all or most of these: a computer of the latest model; a top email and email merge program; familiarity with Word and Power Point office programs; a contact/office manager program; knowledge of the working of office equipment like FAX machines, high speed Internet access, ability to access local MLS information access program and research various types of data; knowledge of uploading photos and integrating them into presentations; and knowledge about virtual tour program. The payment to a virtual assistant can be on a weekly basis or on “call” basis.

The typical earning of a virtual assistant ranges between $20 and $45 per hour, but those virtual assistants who have a higher degree of expertise and those who service upscale clients like attorneys might even demand upward of $100 per hour. Retainer arrangements can also be made by some VAs whereby the clients agree to pay for 10 to 20 hours a month and there might be a discounted hourly rate.

You should get in touch with the nearest company if you wish to become a virtual assistant. You might have to prove yourself by successfully handling small projects lasting an hour or two. However, for a longer program, you should be paid for your time. You can finalize payment terms either on the basis of time or the task involved.
